Do you ever find something that you love so much you just want to shout about it from the rooftops? Well, this is me shouting from an online rooftop – letting you know why you need to try Spillt! Do you like food? Great! You’re going to love this free recipe app! How many times have you found a recipe you love online, maybe screenshotted it, used it a few times, and then totally forgotten about it? I often think about recipes I used to make, particularly over lockdown when I was making a lot of new meals, where I now have no idea what website I found them on,…

My 2024 in Books
This year has been a great year in reading for me. I’ve previously written about the fact that 2024 was the year I managed to scoop myself out of a reading slump, and I really have managed to make reading a more consistent part of my routine – and I found the joy in it again! So I wanted to share with you my 2024 in books – what I loved, didn’t like so much, and what I am keen to read in 2025. The Thursday Murder Club – Richard Osman I started off this year with The Thursday Murder Club by Richard Osman. My sister and I had agreed…

My All-Time Favourite Christmas Films
I love Christmas – and I really love Christmas films! This list was originally meant to just be my five favourite Christmas films, but narrowing it down turned out to be a lot trickier than I thought! Even stopping at ten feels like I’ve missed so many good ones out! (Shrek the Halls (2007) always deserves more love, but just missed out this time). But I know you haven’t got all day to read this, and I really do need to be picky if I’m talking about my absolute favourites. So without further ado, here is my *current* list of all-time favourite Christmas films. 10 – How the Grinch Stole…

Why You Need to Read ‘The Making of Another Major Motion Picture Masterpiece’ by Tom Hanks
I’ve recently finished reading ‘The Making of Another Major Motion Picture Masterpiece’ by Tom Hanks, and I’m honestly not sure I’m ever going to be done shouting about it from the rooftops (at least not until everyone I know has read it too)! I recently wrote about my experience crawling out of a long reading slump, and this is truly one of those books that instantly revived my joy of reading. It was only published last year, but it’s not a book that I’ve seen a lot of people talking about, so I wanted to give it a bit more love! ‘Spanning eighty years and culminating in the opening of…

From the Archive: ‘Six Food Tips For Freshers’ (September 11th 2018)
Moving to university, or even just moving away from home for the first time, brings with it a lot of new challenges and things to learn. One of the biggest of these, perhaps, is learning how to cook for yourself. Cooking for one can be enough of a challenge on its own, and that’s before you even have to think about making sure you have a decent and somewhat healthy/ balanced diet (I hate to tell you, but the novelty of the beige food does start to wear off eventually)! When I first moved to uni I had very little clue about what I was doing in terms of cooking…

Finding My Way Out of a Reading Slump
I have always loved reading. So much so, that I chose to study English Literature for my degree. I really loved my degree, and loved that each week the seminars felt like a little book club, with the opportunity for us all to discuss and share our thoughts on the books we had been reading that week. It pushed me to read books I otherwise wouldn’t have, and gave me new things to think about whenever I read a new text. The cherry on top was the fact that my university campus was in Cornwall, so we had easy access to the beach, and the opportunity to take our reading…

From the Archive: ‘Roaccutane Month Three’ (June 30th 2018)
I originally documented my experience of being on Roaccutane with monthly updates and weekly progress photos on my previous lifestyle blog Thginkcm. However, as this blog is now deleted, I unfortunately have lost the majority of these posts, along with their photos. I have been able to salvage two posts from this series, the below Roaccutane Month Three update, as well as my post on my overall Roaccutane experience, which will be re-uploaded soon. I appreciate these posts won’t mean as much without the context of being able to track the progress of my skin, or the original photos, however I still wanted to preserve the two posts I could…

From the Archive: ‘Review: Bare Minerals Complexion Rescue’ (June 16th 2018)
As I near the end of my first tube of Bare Minerals Complexion Rescue I thought it would be a good time to share my love for this product! I originally purchased this in preparation for starting Roaccutane, anticipating that my skin would become too dry to continue using my other current favourite foundation, the L’Oreal Infallible Matte Foundation. Due to the Complexion Rescue being a little bit more pricey at £28, I decided to go to my nearest Bare Minerals counter at Debenhams and get colour matched beforehand. I definitely didn’t want to run the risk of spending that much and having an orange face – a mistake that I…

Small Changes, Big Impact – Where my Sustainability Journey Started
Positive changes don’t always have to feel like a grand gesture, or a big sacrifice. Sometimes it’s the smallest good actions, repeated consistently, that end up having the biggest impact. As I mentioned in my previous post, over lockdown in 2020 I launched my own small business Mission Better, selling a range of plastic free and planet friendly products. I wanted to share where my own interest in sustainability, and the small changes we can all make on a day to day basis, came from, and how I believe small swaps are the best place to start! That has been one of the biggest lessons I’ve learned since I made…

Hello, I’m Back!
I wanted to start this first post off with a big hello! You may have followed my previous blog Thginkcm, which I started while I was at university, and continued for a few years, until 2021, where life got in the way and I decided it was time to retire my little blog. This is a decision I have really started to regret, and while Thginkcm was unfortunately deleted, there’s no better time than the present to start from scratch – so welcome to my new endeavour, Emma’s Notes to the Moon! You might be wondering where the name came from? (You also might not, and that’s perfectly fine too…
